Welcome to Sognalag!
In your search for Sogn ancestors and present relatives in Norway, we trust you will find this website and membership in Sognalag helpful. Having been a member of Vestlandslag and Sognalag for almost 20 years, I have found it very rewarding in pursuit of my family line from Vik, Norway. Not only have I been assisted by the Sognalag genealogists, but I have met people at the Stevne who are distant relatives with new information. There is nothing like putting puzzle pieces together from the past and then forging ahead to find relatives presently living in the US and Norway.
Sognalag had a display at the 2016 Fellesraad Centennial held at Brooklyn Center, MN on May 5-8, 2016. This was a milestone event that was attended by about 600 people, mostly of Norwegian heritage.
If you are not yet a member, we invite you to join us as you explore your Norwegian heritage. As a Sognalag member, you become a part of the 8 lag Stevne, Vestlandslag, that meets in June annually; as well, you will receive the newsletter, Vestlandet, published 4 times a year. Lag genealogists are available at the Stevne, and by direct communication during the year, to assist members in their genealogy quests. The Stevne speakers and events are educational and fun as you meet with other lag members. You are never too young to begin, nor too old to learn. So, the next step is yours for a whole new opportunity! Enjoy!
